How to Stay Awake While Studying for Your CDL

Whether you are planning a career change, or are seeking your first real job, applying for your CDL is a great move for your future. In order to become a licensed truck driver in Arizona, you will need to pass a comprehensive CDL exam. If it has been awhile since you took a test, you may be tempted to stay up late studying the night before the exam. To help you get the most out of your studies, here are some tips for staying awake while you are studying for your CDL.

Eat Balanced Meals

Your diet can dramatically affect your alertness when you are studying for an exam. Rather than reaching for candy, fast food, or other items that are low in nutrition, it is a great idea to eat a balanced meal before you study. A meal that is full of protein, whole grains, and fresh vegetables will provide you with the fuel that you need for your late night studies.

Get Plenty of Rest

If you have gotten in the habit of staying up late in order to study, you may actually need to allow your brain to rest. When your brain becomes over exhausted, it can be easy to drift off or lose focus when you are studying later on in the evening. Even a short nap can recharge your mind and refresh you for the second half of your study session.

Create a Study Group

In the days and weeks leading up to your CDL exam, you may want to join forces with other classmates in order to create a study group. By studying with other students, you will be able to remain motivated and focused on your topics.
