TRUCK DRIVER TRAINING FOR MILITARY AND VETERANS

Becoming a truck driver after military service can be an excellent decision. At Yuma Truck Driving School, we specialize in commercial driver’s license (CDL) training for active-duty military, veterans, and their families. There are additional funding options available for students who qualify through the various programs listed below.

GI BILL®** EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS

  • Montgomery GI Bill® (Chapter 30)
  • Post-9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33)
  • GI Bill® benefits provide living expenses directly to the veteran while in school.

You may be qualified if you were injured while in the military.

SURVIVORS AND DEPENDENTS
EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (CHAPTER 35)

Spouses and dependent children ages 18-26 of deceased or 100% disabled veterans are eligible for educational assistance if the veteran’s death or disability was service-connected.

SPOUSES OF ACTIVE DUTY PERSONNEL

MyCAA (Military Spouse Program)

Eligible military spouses may receive up to $4,000 of MyCAA Financial Assistance (FA) that can help them pursue education, training, licenses, certificates, and degrees leading to employment.

CREDENTIALING ASSISTANCE

  • Soldiers who qualify can apply for and use the Credentialing Assistance Program in order to obtain the necessary education for stable, quality job opportunities in transportation.
  • For any active, National Guard, or reserve soldier, civilian credentials are important for advancing your career. They can also help active-duty soldiers make a smoother transition into the civilian workforce.
  • The Army may award promotion points for earning a credential if it is related to your duties.
  • Credentials help you make your military training and experience more easily recognizable for civilian employers.
  • CA is available for voluntary off-duty training.
  • CA is subject to the same funding ceiling as TA ($4,000).

SKILLBRIDGE

The Department of Defense SkillBridge Program allows active-duty service members who are within 180 days of separation or retirement the opportunity to attend one of our training programs. Upon command approval, the service member, while still on active duty, will be able to attend training on orders. This allows the service member to focus on the training being provided and allows for a smoother reintegration process.

SkillBridge Requirements:

  • Be within 180 days of separation at the start of the program
  • Have Command Approval (Military Branch Specific)
  • Anticipated Honorable or General Under Honorable Conditions Discharge

VETERAN DRIVE PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Earn your Class A commercial driver’s license with endorsements for hazardous materials (hazmat), doubles/triples, tanker, and passenger.
  • We also offer driver refresher training (not eligible for VA).
  • Letters of pre-hire from employers are available, if desired.
  • We use a combination of hands-on, over-the-road training and instruction.
  • We offer flexible day and evening training schedules from 4-16 weeks depending on student availability.
  • Classes start weekly on Mondays.
  • There are available paid on-the-job training/externships for those who qualify.
  • We provide individualized student support including lifetime nationwide job placement assistance.
